I have just talked with Dan Pickard on FB (such a nice guy!) and asked about Boyanka's situation... and yes, she retired.
A part of the message he sent me:
Anyway, Boyanka retired 6 months ago because she had a serious problem with her back, although she didn't need an operation. The strange thing is that nobody from her club keeps in contact with her so they don't know how she is now or what she's doing. I sent you an email myself just now.

oh no...........
I guess it was a "too much too soon" case?
a big to you Aimée, I know how much you like her(we all in here do), you´re the biggest Boyanka fan I´ve known. I hope you´re not feeling very sad.
another case of a carreer that could have been amazing gone to waste because of the injuries, its a pity _________________ ♥Staniouta, Halkina, Kudryavtseva, Pazhava ♥

yes Youandi, health is more important.
But what Anna says is that it's very sad that you have to stop because of health. It's much better that you stop because of another reason. Like this you never know what you were capable of. If you stop because you don't like it anymore, fine. If you stop because you were at the highest reachable point, fine. If you stop because ... you want it yourself; fine.
But if you stop because you have to .... really this is very sad. And very difficult to deal with.
Ofcourse we wish her all the best and hopefully she can have a normal life without back pain anymore. But somehow the question will always remain "what if ..." |

Thanks Ana, I felt so bad, but anyways, I was expecting that
No one will replace her originality imho... she was just unlucky for having so many problems with her health in her whole career, she was always comming back from injuries and never got one hundred percent recovered =/
Well, I have many idols, but Angelova was kinda special for me, specially for my gymnastics "carreer" too...
Really hard to have a comeback for such a serious problem, I know, but I hope her back is ok, and pain-free now =)
You're very kind _________________ спорт, страсть |
