If a man doing a back scale turn was feminine, then a woman doing a straddle jump would look masculine or less feminine too, especially in this sport that calls for grace. I can't see the grace in any of those beautiful gymnasts who did the straddle jump, even Bessonova.

IMO it's the CoP that needs to be adapted for the men. Say, for example, putting an emphasis on jumps and some of the pivots which are considered as basic ballet skills. Those like attitude, fouette in passe/ with leg at the horizontal level, just to name a few.

For me, Japanese Men's 'RG' is not even RG. It's just a combination of martial arts and gymnastics. You can't call it rhythmic just because these guys do their routines with music eh?))))

For everyone's general interest:

Code of point for Japanese men RG:
http://www.menrg.com/Reqm.html

Choice of apparatus change over time, the common apparatus between the two are rope and clubs. The free hand group of the men's is kind of an odd ball but they do experiment with group with apparatus as well. Go to the facebook page to see an experimental routine.

If you replace the flexibility body group with acrobatic moves (tumbling) as an extra body group and give credit to jumps, the Japanese men's RG code is reasonably close to the pre-2000 code of point for women.

Code of point changes over time, if you trace back the message board on each code of point change, we argued if it is good for the sport each and every time. So the fact that the code is not 'perfect' is just a matter of opinion and will adapt over time.

Regardless what code of point you believe in, JUST DO IT!

I don't see a point in even debating about it. Irina Viner said it will happen. She is the rhythmic GODDESS...we should just pray to her and thank her for gracing us with her wisdom. LOL

I think RG for men should have martial arts aspects too, that makes RG for men more interesting.

Rhythmic gymnastics is known as a sport of dance conducted with flexibility and grace by female gymnasts. Men's rhythmic gymnastics incorporates the flexibility and grace featured in women's rhythmic gymnastics, but emphasizes martial arts skills, control and power. Men's rhythmic gymnastics is increasing in popularity among spectators and growing in participation among men, with seven countries competing internationally.

Maybe I'm too feminized, maybe not. In my opinion flexibility is not only very important for RG but also for martial arts, sadly most people with who I trained for 10 years in the martial arts club weren't flexible, even no one of the black belt martial arts teachers could do the splits. One of the reasons why I train my flexibility is because I want to become better in martial arts. In RG you combined extreme flexibility with different body movements so you have to use all your muscles, fascia and joints of your body, it's very effective way to get more strength and I'm indeed surprised how strong female rhythmic gymnasts are, they are very strong and very flexible, they have also very good control over their body movements, which it's also important for people who are doing martial arts. I'm glad there is a men's rhythmic gymnastic that combined extreme flexibility with martial arts skills.
