irina kazakova did that too ... if not mistaken , her pic can be find in Barny's site where irina sat on the floor in the middle split (legs behind)and put her body like gurbanova... |

She is actually moving the leg from back splits to front splits. Why she bends her knee I don't know, but it's necessary to be "twisted" during this move! |

So she's doing a rond de jambe while holding her leg? if yes, I remember Silvia Miteva doing this too. _________________ Kisses and hugs to everybody and......

Like someone said she's just doing a round de jambe (either from the front to the back or the other way around). She was caught in the very moment where she twists her pelvis in order to switch from back to side... It seems very twisted, but this isn't an element, she doesn't hold her leg there, just a passage... Most gymnast have to take their legs down when they switch from side to back, but Gurbanova is flexible enough in the joints, and so she doesn't loose her highet... Really difficult move! I can believe that Kazakova did it, she's flexible enough...
Ossiadovskaya used to do this move too when she was still a junior... She opened her rope routine with switching from a side balance to a back balance (or was it the other way around ).

its not just any ronde jambe. she has it with the opposite arm. the usual ronde jambe is done with same arm as leg...this way she goes through needle position and is very twisted and much more hip flexibility is needed. |
