Yalena made "Aliya" (raising) to israel about a year ago from Latvia.
the wish was that in this EC she will present israel, bet she's going to compete under the flag of latvia.
the club of Ira Risenson "Holon" and her coach Ira Vigdorchik took Yalena under ther cover. she's iven rent an apartment with Risenson, they are good friend.
Risenson made aliya in the age 11
Pisetsky made aliya in the age 14
so what is so difrent here? |

I saw Yalena last week in Holon.she did a good competition and improved from the last G.P But Risenzon and Rivkin are the best gymnasts in Israel and it's just logical that the Israeli federation will send them for this E.C. |

Maybe her mother is Jewish and her father is not.(i know it's difficult to accept why the Judaism is only according to the mother only and not according to the father only but that's what was decided long time ago...) |

A long article about her (in Hebrew) in the biggest newspaper in Israel.
The article is talking about her wish to be a part of the Israel national team but our federation forbid her .
So ,she trains (very hard) in the club of Holon (with Ira Risenzon) BUT she represents Latvia meanwhile... |

The Israeli federation claims that Yalena doesn't have an Israeli passport so she isn't able to represnt Israel in any international competitions.
Her coach-Ira Vigdorchik claims that because there is a long quarrel between her (the coach) and the federation the federation already told her that they aren't going to send Yalena to competitions and they prefer other gymnasts instand.
That's why Yalena is still having her Latvian passport.(because Latvia is one of the countires in which you aren't able to have 2 passports-if she will change to an Israeli passport she will lose her Latvia's passport and she will not be able to represent Latvia like she is doing nowadays.
It is also written in the article that Yalena and Risenzon rent an apartment together and that her routines were composed by Ayelet Zusnam-Risenzon's choreographer

I don't get this. If Latvia doesn't allow dual citizenship and she's still using a Latvian passport, that would mean she's not an Israeli citizen, right? You have to be a citizen of the country you represent, so the federation doesn't have much of a choice in not sending her. _________________ I have a gymnastics blog again. Thak's for the info!
Intressting to learn that ISR allowes people to represent the country withouth the actual passport alltough I think that mostinternational sports federations don't accept this anyway. _________________ RG is the true reason to go on in my life! |

Maybe i wasn't clear enough .But Israel doesn't allowe people to represent our country without an Israeli passport and thats why Yelena isn't representing Israel in any competitions and she isn't part of the national team . |
