Thank god she's still competing! I was worried for her! Beautiful as ever too!

Natalia Garcia + Eugenia Onopko. Love

(I find it interesting how Western Europe's next generation of rhythmic hopeful's come from Eastern Europe. Jana Berezko-Marggrander for Germany, Kseniya Moustafaeva for France, Natalia Garcia Timofeeva and Eugenia Onopko for Spain...lol.)

I don't think that we can call all those girls Eastern European just because they were born there. It's not the same thing as a change of nationality when you have lived most of your life in the country you represent and thrained there for all or hugh parts of your life as a gymnast...

That's like saying that I can't call myself Chinese just because I was born there. Rolling Eyes

Should I shed my Chinese heritage and identity for an American one? I'm fairly certain that I am both Chinese and an American. Wink

Therefore, it is also possible that these girls can be both East and West European. Be both Russian Tatar and German, be both Belarusian and French, etc etc.

My intention was not to imply that the girls weren't German, French, or Spanish if that's how your interpreted it. All I was trying to say was that I found it fascinating that all of the girls have ties in the region of Europe that we often regard as the heart of RG. You're right that it isn't the same as a simple change of nationality, but I doubt that these girls have assimilated completely into the countries they've lived in for so long without a little bit of influence from their parents. And I am certain that they are all proud to represent the countries that they do.

I didn't talk about feelings but about their gymnastics identity and this is the country where they have been formed as gymnasts imo...
